Led by Founding Artistic Director Roberta Rothstein, an award winning choreographer, dancer and dance educator, Momentum Dance Theatre believes that everyone can dance. Any person in any age group of any ethnicity or belief has the right and ability to express themselves through dance.  We believe that dance is life! Dance, dance theater and arts education enriches our lives and helps us grow and cope with adversity. We believe that dance and humor are intertwined and that you can dance in a funny way or make people laugh through dance and theater. We believe that even beginners are entitled to solid professional training that enhances their self esteem while instilling discipline, personal responsibility, creativity and teamwork. We believe dance students come in all ages and all sizes. We believe you are never too young or too old to dance. We believe everyone has the right to make mistakes, try as hard as they can and applaud their successes. Come dance with us, see us perform and join us in creative expression!

• We explore social issues in a personal way fusing dance, theatre and music.
• We educate, promote the arts and reach out to diverse communities.
• We train young dancers through Momentum’s JHHN and JHH programs, providing professional performance opportunities.
• We also train older dancers and encourage them to progress, technically and artistically.
• We partner with local institutions such as the Washington, DC Public Schools to increase our deep and longstanding connection with our community.
• We seek innovative ways to bring the arts into our lives in meaningful ways.
• We like to make people laugh as well as think in our dances and encourage our audiences to have as much fun as possible.
• We share our love of dance and our desire to make dance accessible to all people.
